7 REASONS WHY YOU NEED TO VISIT KENYA
Kenya is a country in the Eastern part of Africa. It borders Tanzania, Uganda,South Sudan, Ethiopia,Somalia and the Indian Ocean. It is known for many things among them being the home of great athletes. Here are some reasons why you should visit.
1.No racism
Unlike other countries where you might be discriminated because of the colour of your skin,Kenya is absolutely different. If you are Black, you are considered one of us and the same applies to Caucasians and even Asians. However,if you are white, get used to the term mzungu which means European but is now used to refer to all Caucasians. Most Southeast Asians are referred to as mchina because Kenyans apparently think that all our gorgeous Asian friends from the Southeast are Chinese.Funny much, right? Also,Kenya is a pretty diverse country that is home for people of all races. How could we ever discriminate our own?Blood is afterall red no matter the skin colour, right?
2.Hospitable people
Like I already said, there are almost no cases of racial discrimination.People are very nice and willing to help tourists to find directions, learn new words et cetera. This is not the type of country where people will see you looking miserable and lost on the roadside and just mind their businesses,no.They will ask what the matter is and try to help however they can. Also,if you’re antisocial, I don’t think this is the place for you because you’ll have a swarm of friends by the end of your visit. That is just how much we value friendship.
3.Affordable costs
Kenya is one of the most affordable countries in Africa.Though the value of money is more than that of our East African neighbours, everything is pretty much inexpensive.Hotels and lodgings are affordable and so are restaurants. You could prepare a budget and stick to it.However,I am always a rule breaker who doesn’t stick to a budget because seriously, where is the fun in that? Don’t mind me,just budget and leave some extra cash incase you smell something nice by the roadside.Also,1USD is 113 Kenya Shillings. That is enough to buy a loaf of bread and a packet of milk so, voilà !
4.Amazing food
How could I talk about something smelling nice by the roadside and not take time to talk about food?Kenya is a pretty diverse country with more than 42 tribes that have different cultures. The food is equally diverse and might I add, scrumptious!Oh, I’m already yawning just thinking about it . Because I’m sure I’ll take all day talking about food,my next blog will be about the foods you have to try when you visit Kenya. So,stay tuned!
5.Beautiful sceneries
I should have started with this but oh,well.Kenya is BEAUTIFUL!From the glorious beaches in the coast, beautiful lakes and rivers sprinkled around the country, hot springs, gorgeous mountains and hills, breathtaking landscapes in the Rift Valley, flamingos in lake Nakuru, dozens of national parks and beautiful weather, why would you find a reason not to visit? There are also stunning wild animals and the well known wildebeest migration in the Mara river.I mean,I could go on forever so maybe I’ll dedicate yet another blog just for this because, why not?
6.The easiest way to learn Swahili
If you are learning Swahili or have the interest in doing so,this is the place for you.Kenya’s two main languages are Swahili and English. However, like I mentioned earlier, it’s a diverse country and each tribe also speak their own language. There are also street/city/town dialects. All in all,the moment you set your foot in Kenya,be certain that by the time you leave you’ll have a lot of Swahili words permanently stuck in your head.
7.The women and men are good-looking
How could I not include this?Like, come on.Kenya is not only the place to escape to when you need peace and adventures but also the place to find love.Kenyans are beautiful. There are those that are dark skinned and those that are lighter,Black, White,Asian and mixed race people, tall and short, fat and skinny. What I am trying to say is that there are people of all colours, shapes and sizes in Kenya.Their uniqueness makes them beautiful inside and out.
This is just the first part of this blog because I still have a lot to talk about. One thing I must add is that Kenyan people speak British English. So if you are from America,a few British English words could help you get around more easily than using words like elevator, closet, candy, trunk and french fries because sweetie, here we know them as lift, wardrobe, sweet, boot and chips. All in all, pack your bags and get ready to tan in this beautiful weather.Karibu Kenya.
